Tiffany L. Smith, RN, BSN, WCC
I created Broken & Brave Health because after over 15 years as a nurse, I got tired of watching good people completely drown trying to navigate the healthcare system for someone they love.
Over my 15 year career, I’ve worked in the ICU, ER, hospice, home health, long-term care, and wound care. I have seen so many families go through devastating diagnoses, hospitalizations, end-of-life and goals of care conversations, caregiver breakdowns, and moments where people simply had no idea what to do next.
I started noticing something over and over again:
The women were carrying almost all of it. Every. Time.
These women (usually first born daughters) were trying to manage appointments, medications, insurance issues, family stress, jobs, kids, and their own exhaustion all at the same time.
Most of them had no medical background, but suddenly they were expected to somehow understand complicated healthcare situations and make huge decisions for the people they love.
That’s terrifying for a lot of people.
Especially because the healthcare system moves fast, communication is often terrible, and families are usually emotionally overwhelmed while trying to absorb all of it.
I know this world extremely well from years of being inside hospital rooms, hospice rooms, care conferences, difficult family conversations, and crisis situations where emotions are high, things are moving fast, and people are scared.
I know how quickly families become overwhelmed.
I know how confusing medical language can feel.
I know how hard it is to even know what questions to ask sometimes.

And I also know how much calmer things become when someone simply slows things down and helps people process what’s actually happening.
That’s really what Broken & Brave is.
A place where caregivers can breathe for a minute.
Ask questions.
Talk through difficult situations.
Get organized.
Get honest guidance.
And stop feeling so alone.
I’m not here to pretend I have all the answers.
And I’m definitely not here to replace doctors or medical providers.
But I am here to help women feel more supported, more informed, and less overwhelmed while navigating difficult healthcare situations with the people they love.
I am also someone who has personally walked through some incredibly hard seasons in life too. I know what it feels like to carry too much for too long and still feel like everyone needs something from you. I know how heavy this role can become, and my goal is that you walk away from working with me feeling more organized, more supported, less overwhelmed, and more confident navigating everything that’s being thrown at you.
I can’t wait to get to know you, hear your story, and work to ease your burdens!
